CURRENT NEWS

2007

June 25 - I landed a small principal part on Brotherhood for episode 6 of the second season now shooting in Providence. I played an Irish driver involved in an auto accident with a Latino driver. We both jumped out of our cars and started sceaming at each other while Irish neighbors lined up behind me and Latino neighbors behind him. Jason Clarke, in his role as Tommy Caffee, watched the mayham from the porch of a house he was visiting for political purposes. Since I am a Providence born Irishman, and this is a program about Providence Irishman, I am now waiting for production to flesh my role out into a more significant series character.

The Container was selected for the Cannes Film Festival Shortfilm Corner. Click the title above or on the links page to watch it online.

2006

On August 27 I did an on camera principal role in a Dunkin' Donuts commercial. It is called People Of New England. I am playing an architect on a construction site. Alot of friends have seen it, but I have only seen it twice - once while watching Saturday Night Live and the second time during My Name Is Earl.

An Uzi At The Alamo was unanimously chosen as the winner of the Rhode Island Intercollegiate Film Festival. The screening will be held this month at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI.  The date and exact time is yet to be determined, so I will let you know as soon as I do.

The trailer for the film will be shown as part of the Boston Film Night on Sunday, September 17th during the 7pm show at the Regent Theater in Arlington, MA.

Anyone going to be in Phoenix in October?  If so, perhaps you will check-out a screening of An Uzi At The Alamo at the Modified Arts Center, located at 407 E. Roosevelt Avenue in Phoenix, AZ.  This will hopefully be the first of several microcinema screenings to take place in the next few months.

DISTRIBUTION NEWS

An Uzi At The Alamo continues to have a strong rental run on NetFlix, thanks in large part to the word-of-mouth campaign that has been going on.  Please keep spreading the word!!!  And, perhaps just as importantly, please be sure to rate the film (high) on the NetFlix site.  The higher the rating and the more times the film is rented, the more discs NetFlix orders from the distributor.

Also, don't forget that Uzi is still available on Amazon.com, Singa Home Entertainment, and is available for legal download through EZtakes.com

Sreeners of Uzi have been sent out to a number of territories, including (but not limited to): China, Brazil, USA, Turkey, The Netherlands, Australia, Greece (ka-ching!) , Canada, Lebanon and Italy.  Also, Uzi will be brought to the upcoming American Film Market and MIPCOM, all in search of potential buyers.

REVIEWS & NEWS

An Uzi At The Alamo was just reviewed on the popular indie film website Cinephelia.  Here's a quote from the review: "The film is by far funnier and more original than the majority of popcorn machines that come out every weekend.  While watching the film though I thought, honestly, the film was a few hairs away from being great."  Feel free to check-out the whole review here: http://www.cinephelia.com/movie_detail.asp?PK=206

Now for what's in the News.....

Actually, this still sort of falls into Reviews, but.....Uzi will also be reviewed on two other indie film websites in the next month or so.  In addition, it was recently placed back on FilmBaby.com, where it will likely be part of a television screening in a soon-to-be-selected region.

CP Casting hired me as an on-camera principal for a Dunkin' Donuts commercial to be called "People of New England." It was filmed on Sunday August 27.

Midnight Chimes Productions and IMAGINE Magazine are sponsoring the 3rd Annual Boston Film Night on Sunday September 17, 2006 at Regent Theatre in Arlington. This year's line-up will include a SAG only portion of the program. So if you have made a film using union talent be sure to submit it to Kevin Anderton for consideration. You can contact Kevin at midnightchimes@gmail.com for an application and more information.

In April I had the good pleasure of working with Jamie Benti and Jenna Sullivan of Image Icon Entertainment. I played the role of Henry, a slick haired full of himself throw back to the disco era in their lastest production "Last Shot," written by Kevin Boyle. The other cast members include Darya Zabinski as Sara the Russian femme fatale, Terrence P Haddad as Dennis the assassin, John Pierce as the bartender, Joey Vacchio as Jack and Jamie Benti as Greg play a couple of lucky drunken guys. Click the Image Icon link above for more info about the film and I.I.E.

March saw the CBS pilot for "Waterfront" come to Providence. I agreed to do a day of background and it turned into four days working as Joe Pantoliano's bodyguard. No lines, but maybe a leg up if the series gets picked up.

In February I played a detective investigating a young girl's murder in a short film tentatively titled Stop & Go.

Prior to that I worked in my first silent film, "The Container" directed by Andy Sneizek and produced by his Reaction Independent Studios. Mari DaVila and Staci Nardizzi were my co-stars.

2005

Showtime's "Brotherhood" TV series shot throughout last summer. I worked background on the pilot the previous November and did not get called again until the final episode was being shot. I ended up working five days as the father of the groom in the big season ending Irish wedding of the two Finerty clans.

Michael Corrente is seeking investors for the feature film PRINCE OF PROVIDENCE, based on the Michael Stanton book of the same name. The story is about the rise and fall of colorful Providence Mayor Vincent "Buddy" Cianci, and is scheduled to star Paul Giamatti from the Oscar nominated film SIDEWAYS. The screenplay was written by David Mamet. Corrente will produce and direct. Email here for more information.

Watch for my appearance on the next airing of cable program Inspire America with Lisa Brightman. Along with other guests, we will be talking about filmmaking in New England. The show was filmed October 13, 2005. I will post air dates and channels when available, but in the meantime you can visit Lisa's site for updates @ http://www.inspireamerica.org/

Michael O'Dea was one of my co-guests on the Inspire America program - actually, he arranged for me to appear on the show. Michael is currently producing a feature film called TOWNIES and is considering me for one of the roles. Click here to see my profile.

Midnight Chimes Productions and IMAGINE Magazine are sponsoring the 2nd Annual Boston Film Night on Sunday November 6th between 5pm and 7:30pm at Regent Theatre in Arlington. The line-up includes a showing of Our Fellow Countrymen.

Steven Feinberg of The Rhode Island Film and Television Office will officially announce the Walt Disney Pictures/Spyglass Entertainment live-action, family-film production of "Underdog" on Wednesday, October 26th at 12:30pm in the RI State House Rotunda. Angela Peri of Boston Casting organized "Lend A Hand To Fight Against Autism" to benefit the "Friends of Ladders" program in their fight against autism at the Comedy Connection in Faneuil Hall, Boston on Sunday October 9th. Angela lined up comedian MC Tony V. and a half dozen other comedians for a great night of entertainment. Look for her to organize another installment next year, and in future years.

The completed final cut of "An Uzi at the Alamo" was screened on THURSDAY, AUGUST 4th @ 8:00pm at the

COLUMBUS THEATRE

This marks the world premiere of the film, so please be sure to spread the word. Admission is FREE. And, you are more than welcome to bring as many guests as you wish. While you are encouraged to invite industry types, friends and family will also have seats waiting for them.

**Dress is casual, so you will have to save your tux or Vera Wang dress for another time.

Earlier this year I completed a co-starring role in Rock Productions's MIRROR MIRROR, starring Donna Douglas (Elly Mae Clampett of THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES). For details click Rock Productions.

I have been a film fan since my early teens. Between the cinema and home viewed DVDs I must watch an average of two or three films a week.

The first opportunity I had to actually work in a movie was when "Meet Joe Black" filmed in Warwick, Rhode Island in the Fall of 1997.

Since "Met Joe Black" I have worked in nearly 50 projects including Hollywood films, independent films, television programs, and commercials.

Working in "Meet Joe Black" for five weeks of twelve hour nights was a bit much for some of the background performers, but having the opportunity to see film making in progress was fantastic for me - a passion was aroused.

At the time there was alot of talk about Providence becoming the Hollywood of the east. Michael Corrente and home grown Rhode Island film makers Bobby and Peter Farrelly hit the scene, and the TV show "Providence" filmed for a couple of years - it seemed to be happening. Unfortunately, most other producers decided it was more economically feasible to make film elsewhere, notably in Canada.

On the fortunate side we now have a shaker and a stirrer running the Rhode Island Film Commission. With Steven Feinberg at the helm positive things are happening. He convinced Blake Masters to shoot the entire pilot episode of Showtimes "Brotherhood" right here in the Ocean State (when they originally planned to work four days here, shooting the rest in Toronto). On the heels of that success, Steven was able to convince the producers to shoot the entire eleven episodes of the first year right here (commencing in July). Way to go Steve.

Not happy sitting pat with that shot in the arm for Rhode Island filmmaking, Director Feinberg encouraged our state legislators to create tax incentives to draw in more movies. Happily his efforts have paid off and the incentives were announced at a press conference March 8, 2005. During that conference he also indicated several other projects are in the Rhode Island pipeline.

I currently earn my living wage from self-employed real estate appraisals and sales; work that allows me the flexibility to do what I want to do for my own passion and enjoyment - ACT!!!
